Necessary Roughness TV Show – REALLY GOOD, And SO Similar To My Necessary Roughness Book!
So, okay, the USA Network show Necessary Roughness that debuted last night is not based on my book. . .but it DOES star a STRONG woman character (like me) who talks tough and straight, eyeball to eyeball with big men (like I do), and the first lines of the show are the lead character’s voice saying: “My dad used to say life is like a football game. . .” (similar to my first lines of my book. . .) Hmmmm. . .they even point out that women can appreciate “the tight butts in Spandex.” Hmmmm. . .
A friend of the creator wrote me that the show has been in the works for years, so no infringement here—just “great minds. . .” It centers on a recently-separated female psychologist, who meets a trainer for a pro NFL team in New Jersey, and starts to treat an under-achieving wide receiver on the team. I LOVED the show! I want everyone to watch it!
Not only does Callie Thorne, the lead actress, provide a strong role model, she’s not vapid, she’s not 22, she’s not super-skinny, and she has advanced college degrees!! I was hoping they would have a football plot every week, but as I can see from the coming attractions, she branches out into other sports. Well, okay, I’ve even branched out into other sports, since the football season is short, and, as yet, non-existent.
So a big “thumbs up” for the show, and its producers—they will soon all have a copy of my Necessary Roughness book! For your copy, click here, or better yet, get the first chapter first by signing up to the right! That way, you can check out the book AND get updates from Yours Truly…
